How we review data rooms
Datarooms.co is published by the team behind Papermark, a virtual data room. We say so on every page that ranks providers, we include Papermark in those rankings, and we tell you when another provider is the better fit. This page explains how the rankings are built so you can judge them.
Who we are
The site is written and maintained by the Papermark team. Our interest is simple: buyers who understand the market choose better, and a share of them choose Papermark. We do not accept payment from any provider for placement, and no provider other than Papermark has a commercial relationship with this site.
What we rank on
- Price and pricing model. Published list prices first; where a vendor quotes per deal we say "not published" and give the model (per page, per user, flat, per project). We never invent a price.
- Security and compliance. Certifications the vendor publicly claims (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR), plus the controls that matter in a deal: granular permissions, dynamic watermarking, NDA gating, audit logs, redaction.
- Deal workflow. Q&A, indexing, bulk upload, analytics per viewer, and how long it takes to open a room.
- Fit. Which deal sizes, sectors and team types each product is built for. A product can be excellent and still be the wrong choice for a seed round or a $5B carve-out.
Where the facts come from
Vendor pricing and security pages, product documentation, public filings and press releases, and user reviews on G2 and Capterra, which we cite but do not reproduce. Dates on pricing pages show when we last checked the vendor's own page.
How pages are updated
Core ranking pages and pricing guides are re-checked monthly. A page's "Updated" date changes only when a fact on the page changed, not when the page was merely republished. Comparison pages are built from a single vendor data set, so a price corrected once is corrected everywhere.
What we do not do
- No paid placements, affiliate commissions or sponsored rankings.
- No invented reviews or ratings. Star ratings shown on provider cards come from public review platforms and are labelled as such.
- No price estimates presented as facts.
Corrections
If a price, feature or claim on this site is wrong, tell us at support@papermark.io and we will correct it and note the change on the page.
